Cyclone ‘Mandus’ impact – 644½ tonnes of wood debris removed in Chennai

Chennai:

Storm ‘Mandus’ uprooted trees in various parts of Chennai city and in some places branches fell. Accordingly, 207 trees and tree branches fell on the roads in more than 100 places.

All these tree branches were removed by the corporation workers from the night of 9th last night and started removing them using woodworking machines on a war-time basis.

Accordingly, wood waste weighing 644½ tonnes was transported by 100 tipper trucks in 291 runs to the Corporation’s dumping grounds at Kodunkaiyur and Perungudi.
