NEW YORK, June 18, 2024 – Cynthia Erivo isn’t planning a return to Oz-at least, not on the Broadway stage. The star of Wicked: For Good recently explained why she’s unlikely to reprise her role as Elphaba in the iconic musical’s stage production,prioritizing opportunities for other talented performers.

Erivo’s decision comes as the film adaptation of “Wicked” continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

Erivo elaborated, explaining that the film’s success opens doors for a new wave of talent. “What’s marvelous about this particular film now is that I think it provides more room for other women to go do [the role on Broadway],” she said.

It’s absolutely nonsensical and insane.”
