From the drama “Nahoře nebe, v dolina já,” filmmaker Katarína Gramatová’s largely non-actor cast was praised, with critics specifically highlighting Tomáš Kotas’ cinematography as a significant audiovisual achievement.

In the Out of Cinema category, the criminal mini-series “Studna,” produced by the Oneplay platform, emerged victorious. the series, created by Miro Šifra, Kristina Májová, and director Tereza Kopáčová, drew inspiration from a real family tragedy in Vonoklas, Central Bohemia, and a well-known episode of the series “30 cases of Major Zeman.”
The short film category saw success for the diary-style animated film “I Died in Irpin,” directed by Anastasija Falileevová. The film poignantly documents the initial days following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
Legal Challenges Surround “Choir Master”
The award for “Choir Master” is accompanied by controversy, as one of the film’s victims recognized herself in the story, inspired by the case of convicted offender bohumil Kulínský, and due to the use of the same first name. The producers are now facing a lawsuit. The film’s creator has previously expressed regret for the psychological impact the film had on some real victims. Falbrová extended praise to all victims who found the courage to come forward.
Endorfilm,the film’s main producer,maintains that “Choir Master” is a work of fiction. In a statement, the company said it attempted reconciliation but the opposing party demanded ten million in compensation and a complete ban on the film’s broadcast in the Czech Republic.
The awards ceremony featured presentations by former athlete Ludmila Formanová, kayaker Vavřinec Hradilek, and hockey legend Dominik Hašek, while YouTuber Jan Špaček served as the master of ceremonies.
