Czechs rescued from the Rax by helicopter

Two Czechs were rescued from the Rax by Interior Ministry helicopter on Saturday afternoon. The duo, aged 31 and 35, could neither go forward nor back on the Preinerwandsteig due to the still wintry conditions and informed the emergency services. The man and the woman were rescued unharmed by rope, reported the Reichenau mountain rescue service (Neunkirchen district) by broadcast. A man from Schneeberg was also brought to safety during the night.

According to the broadcast, the 40-year-old got lost when descending from the Stadelwandhütte and dialed the emergency call around 8:30 p.m. Based on the transmitted coordinates, the Lower Austrian could be found unharmed shortly before midnight and accompanied to the valley, the mountain rescue team announced on Sunday.
