The athlete of the Lithuanian Paralympic team succeeded best in the second push – the ball flew 13 meters 63 centimeters. This push briefly moved D. Dundzis from sixth to fifth place, but the Alytis could not save his position. The Lithuanian took the final seventh position.

Uzbek Kudratilochon Marufchujayev won the gold medal (16.37 m), Tunisian Achmed Ben Moslah (15.40 m) won silver, Tolibboj Juldashev (15.24 m), the champion’s compatriot, won bronze.

“The performance, the result is not very satisfying, especially Donatas is disappointed that he could not push the ball further. It’s hard to say what happened, maybe he was burned out emotionally. Maybe the wait for the start was a bit long, and the number of people in the stadium was huge, the pressure was so great. It probably all came together. Challenging the top three was not realistic for the day, but the battle for places 4-8 was very close, anything could happen there. Now we need to calm down and concentrate on the discus throw event,” said coach Jonas Baltrushaitis.

The Paris Paralympic Games are the second in D. Dundzis’ career. Three years ago, at the Tokyo Games, the athlete took sixth place in the shot put event.

In Paris, D. Dundzys will still compete in the discus throw event, this start will take place on September 6.

On Saturday, the Tokyo Paralympic Games prize-winner, swimmer Edgaras Matakas, as well as the European vice-champion, shooter Raimeda Bučinskytė, will compete in the Paralympic arenas.
