Today, February 20, 2024, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, met with the presidium of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE), in the context of contacts with the social partners.

The minister thoroughly discussed with the president Yiannis Parashis and the members of the SETE board the problem faced by the sector with the lack of staff, the need for professional training of tourism workers for better paid jobs and the transfer of highly skilled workers.

As mentioned in a related announcement, the meeting emphasized that the high growth rates of the tourism market impose the need for a well-trained and well-paid staff, in order to serve the goal of optimal services provided, which will allow the influx of visitors of a higher profile.

Also, at the center of the discussion was the application of the Digital Work Card in the tourism industry, a “tool” which ensures the labor rights of employees and contributes to the more efficient operation of businesses.

After the meeting, the Minister of Labor and Social Security, Domna Michailidou, said:

“With the board of the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) I had the opportunity to thoroughly discuss a series of issues that have the common denominator of the further strengthening of Greek tourism. Our main priority is to practically help one of the most important sectors of the Greek economy and employment for the benefit of both the workers and the national economy. Our contribution to the creation of a new development framework for Greek tourism will contribute to maintaining the “Greece” brand in its rightful place: at the top.”
