“It was not bad, maybe there was too much excitement, like in such a semi-final. I tried to calm myself. Everything went well, I think it is possible to swim much better, it is very good that now was the semi-final.

Tomorrow will be a new day, I want to sleep well, make up my mind and I will have to work”, said D. Rapšys after the semi-final swimming.

Inspired by the fullness of the “La Defense” arena and the many tricolors visible in it, the Panevėžy from Panevėžys started the semi-final swimming in the top four, and in the second part of the distance he broke out among the leaders.

“It’s fun. Around all those who are world champions, Olympic champions. Good atmosphere, powerful semi-finals, and now – the world champion did not make it to the final, as I said, in swimming you always have to be here and now”, added the swimmer.

We remind you that in the morning selection, D. Rapšys covered the distance in 1 minute. 45.91 sec.

After the finish, he also talked about his new look – he jumped into the pool wearing shorts painted in blue and pink, which are the main colors of the Paris Olympics.

“Shorts also added excitement. I got shorts – French style. New, nice. I asked for the federation, and I got both Paris-colored glasses and shorts. It will be necessary to “do it” tomorrow, – smiled the resident of Panevėžys.

The final of the 200 m freestyle will be held on Monday at 9 p.m. 40 minutes Lithuanian time.

“Here is the final, here is another day. If you get to the final, you always have a chance – you have to take advantage of the opportunity.

“Sparta will definitely grow, but it’s very good when you don’t get to the finals with the first results, it’s calm,” the Olympian added.

The native of Panevėžys will also compete in the 100 m individual and 200 m freestyle relay swims at the Paris Olympic Games.
