Shouting, and in front of a few dozen followers at a PN headquarters in Piedras Blancas, Da Silva blurted out: “We do not represent the thugs, we fight them. We fight against that Uruguayan people of the malandras, we do not represent them”. In the middle of his effusive speech, a couple of voices are heard shouting “bravo!”, followed by applause.

And alluding to the unions, he continued: “We do not represent people who do not want to go to work, we represent the worker, his face, the tanned face that one sees in each of the colleagues who are here.. And he finished: “That is the people that this government represents, that is the people (for whom) this government goes out of its way, doing things and letting other things happen.”
