Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Al-Dabaiba confirmed the ability of the Ministry of Interior agencies to secure the electoral entitlement to hold elections in the country in a way that guarantees the will of the people to choose their leaders.
Al-Dabaiba said during his speech before the general gathering of members of the Ministry of Interior at the courtyard of Tripoli International Airport that confiscating the will of the people through flimsy pretexts is something that will never be acceptable in Libya, reiterating his refusal to extend the current bodies to themselves so that they can continue in power, as he said.
Al-Dabaiba considered that the government was not part of the security and military insurance, whether security formations or even what he called “militia,” considering it a heavy legacy imposed by wars and chaos over the past years, and his government was not a party to its creation.
During his speech, Al-Dabaiba spoke about parallel spending, saying, “We warned against parallel spending months ago, and today our truth was proven, after they asked the people to bear its costs.” Al-Dabaiba rejected any injustice practiced on the Libyan people.
Al-Dabaiba appreciated the large and important role in combating the phenomenon of cross-border migration and combating smuggling, praising the Ministry’s role in combating smuggling and combating its global networks.
For his part, the Minister of the Interior of the National Unity Government, Imad Trabelsi, announced that the Ras Jdir border crossing with Tunisia would soon be reopened in the near future after reaching an agreement with his Tunisian counterpart, Kamal El-Feki.
During his speech before the Ministry’s general assembly, Trabelsi indicated that they were able to restore security in the cities over the past months, before the Ministry moved to arrange the security situation in the southern regions.
Trabelsi confirmed the imminent opening of the Al-Dabdab border crossing with Algeria, and work will be done to organize all of the country’s airports after organizing work at Mitiga Airport is completed.
Trabelsi announced that the capital, Tripoli, would soon be evacuated of armed formations, and that all state institutions would be secured by Interior Ministry personnel only, including diplomatic and personal escorts.
Speaking about the elections, Trabelsi called for the ministry to be supported by local authorities so that it can perform its duty and hold the elections in appropriate conditions.
