“Dabaiba” follows up on the activation of the Amsaid Road Agreement

The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, followed up, in a meeting in his office this evening, with the Implementation and Management Authority of the Amsaid-Ras Ajdir Road, the activation of the agreement to implement the (Amsaid-Ras Ajdir) road, which is 1,700 kilometers long, and signed with Italy.

During the meeting, Dabaiba was briefed on the general position of the project and the results reached by the joint committees from the Libyan and Italian sides regarding the progress made in the contracting procedures with Italian companies specialized in implementation.

The Prime Minister stressed the need to study the obstacles that may face the implementation of the project with the aim of launching it as soon as possible, especially since the Italian government will bear the full costs of constructing this strategic road, explaining the need to complete the project as soon as possible due to its strategic importance to Libya.

It is noteworthy that Libya signed a friendship and partnership treaty with Italy in 2008, which includes the maintenance of the coastal road from western Libya to its east, in addition to Italy’s commitment to complete housing projects, provide scholarships to Libyan students in Italian universities, and encourage Italian companies to enter the Libyan market.
