The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdul Hamid Dabaiba, received at the Prime Minister’s Office in Tripoli, the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, Rosemary DiCarlo..
The two parties discussed “the political developments and events in Libya, and the importance of pushing the political process forward in order to hold parliamentary and presidential elections according to fair and just laws, and to unify international and local efforts to support stability in the country.”
Dbeibah also briefed the Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs on “the efforts made by the government within the framework of the Capital of Peace campaign, which aims to improve the security situation in the capital, Tripoli, including enhancing security, releasing those illegally detained, strengthening the rule of law and achieving justice.”
During the meeting, the two parties expressed “the importance of supporting the efforts of the UN mission to achieve sustainable stability in Libya, and facilitate the political transition process through dialogue and national reconciliation.”
The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Adel Jumaa, Minister of Communication and Political Affairs Walid Al-Lafi, the Minister in charge of running the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Taher Al-Baour, and Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and Acting Head of the UN Mission Stephanie Khoury.
