Dafne Keen Reflects on X-23’s Cancelled Solo Film and Her Joyous Return in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

by time news

One of the many victims of Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the cancellation of the solo movie for X-23 – the character played by Dafne Keen in Logan – deeply affected the young actress, who was 11 years old at the time she starred in the film alongside Hugh Jackman.

“This project was a reality until it wasn’t. They were talking to me about a script being written, that kind of thing. Of course, I don’t know how much of that was true; I was 11 years old, not involved in anything. But I was heartbroken when I found out it wasn’t going to happen,” Keen told EW.

The actress continued, saying that at the time, she thought the project’s failure would be the end of her career: “I was thinking: ‘Oh, so this is it, I have to move on.’ X-23 was the best character I’ve ever played, and I only got to play her when I was 11. I peaked at 11.”

Fortunately, Keen is back in the role of X-23 in Deadpool & Wolverine, as revealed in the trailer released today (19) by Marvel.

The first film of the antihero following Fox’s acquisition by Disney — and thus, the first that takes place in the official MCU timeline — Deadpool & Wolverine is directed by Shawn Levy (Free Guy).

In addition to the returns of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the film has confirmed names like Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Jennifer Garner, and Rob Delaney in the cast.

Deadpool & Wolverine arrives in Brazil on July 25.
