Dafne Keen Returns as X-23 in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’: What to Expect from the Reimagined Character

by time news

The actress Dafne Keen, who plays Laura Kinney (X-23) in the movie “Logan” (2017), returns to the role in Marvel’s latest production, “Deadpool & Wolverine”. Her participation was confirmed through a new trailer released this Friday (19). In a new interview, she shares more about the character’s return.

Also known as “Wolverine’s daughter,” X-23 is a mutant derived from an experiment in the Weapon X project, which aimed to create a sort of “clone” of the hero with claws in her hands. She was introduced on the big screen in “Logan” and had not returned to the role since then.

Now, seven years later, she talks about returning to action with “Deadpool & Wolverine.” “I had so much fun keeping this a secret,” Dafne told Entertainment Weekly. “I was asked in every interview, and I lied.”

According to the actress, Laura will still be “fierce and wild,” as portrayed in the other film, but she will now be able to communicate better and will recognize Wolverine more as a father figure.

“Laura is now around many people who speak English, so her Spanish accent is quite neutral,” she noted, alluding to the character’s upbringing in Madrid, Spain.

About Wolverine, she emphasized that “it was wonderful to come back and explore this as an adult.” “She understands parental rage more now. Laura in ‘Logan’ stumbled upon having a father and then lost her father. We find her again truly knowing how to appreciate — and with this kind of wisdom for her — how much her father means to her.”

“The first thing I did for ‘Deadpool’ was stunt training, before filming anything. I put on the costume and thought: ‘Oh! She’s back,’” Dafne concluded.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” hits Brazilian theaters on July 25.
