Daghim: Aqila’s statements confused the dollar market, and the Central Bank is operating normally

Presidential Council Advisor Ziad Daghim expected a major breakthrough this week in the Central Bank crisis, suggesting that dialogue between representatives of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of State would resume on Thursday or early next week.

Daghim, the presidential representative in the dialogue sponsored by the UN mission, added in a statement to Libya Al-Ahrar that the representatives of the two councils had previously agreed on a date for electing the new governor, and requested a period of time to submit their comments on the agreed-upon principles paper, before the session to elect the new governor is held in the first week of October.

Daghim said that the UN mission seeks to benefit from the meetings that the President of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, will hold in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting, to reach a final solution to the crisis.

Regarding the rise in the dollar exchange rate in the parallel market, Daghim indicated that this rise is primarily linked to a political aspect, blaming the statements of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aguila Saleh, which he considered irresponsible.

Daghim pointed out that the Central Bank is operating with full efficiency and without any problems, stressing that the Operations Department is conducting its transactions normally, including embassy transfers and opening credits.
