Advisor to the Presidential Council for Political Affairs and Elections, Ziad Daghim, confirmed that the tripartite meeting that brought together Libya, Tunisia and Algeria aims to unify the visions of the three countries and their efforts within international organizations.

Daghim stressed that this meeting does not constitute an alternative to any proposed initiatives, and that the number of participants does not reflect any disagreement or exclusion of any country or local parties, adding that the invitation is open to the participation of any party that agrees with the visions presented in it.

Daghim explained that the fragile state of stability in Libya requires benefiting from neighboring countries and enhancing cooperation to support the holding of elections, especially with the presence of common borders and basic issues that bring these countries together, such as immigration, border protection, and economic cooperation.

The President of the Presidential Council, Mohamed Menfi, had participated in a tripartite summit that brought him together with the Tunisian President Kais Saied and the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the capital, Tunis.

In a closing statement of the meeting, the three presidents affirmed their complete rejection of foreign interference in Libyan affairs and their support for efforts aimed at organizing elections in a way that preserves Libya’s unity, security and stability.

They also announced their agreement on the need to support the countries of the region, protect their national sovereignty, and enhance cooperation with them at all economic and development levels, in addition to deepening consultation and information on the phenomenon of terrorism and human trafficking to protect the region from these scourges.
