This participation, unique in its kind for a Moroccan organization in the EFM, aims to highlight the potential and assets that Morocco in general and the southern provinces in particular have, as a platform for filming international cinematographic and television works, indicates a press release from the Commission.
The Moroccan delegation taking part in this cinematographic mass presented a series of data on the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region and on the Commission, as well as on its role in terms of coordination, with a view to developing cinematographic and cultural cooperation, particularly in the areas of production, training and distribution.
The delegation was composed in particular of the producer and distributor, Asma Graimiche, president of the Dakhla Film Commission, the producer Karim Dabbagh, vice-president of the Commission, the German producer, Michael Dreher and the artistic director of film festivals, Malak Dahmouni.
On this occasion, the film “Seneca” by international star, John Malkovich, which was filmed in Morocco, was screened for the first time internationally, in the presence of the Ambassador of Morocco to Germany, Zohour Alaoui, the statement said, noting that this cinematographic work was co-produced by the vice-president of the Dakhla Film Commission, producer Karim Dabbagh.
The European Film Market is considered one of the most important international events in the film industry, with the participation of over 550 exhibitors and around 9,600 professionals from nearly 120 countries, including 1,700 international buyers and 1,140 exhibitors of 784 films.
The EFM was also marked by the presence of film sellers and buyers, producers, distributors, financiers and representatives of television from all over the world and new media, with the aim of obtaining the latest productions and following the news of the world film scene, in addition to negotiating film rights and consolidating networking in the film industry sector.
