Organized by the Oued Eddahab Provincial Tourism Council, with the support and in partnership with the Cherifian Phosphate Office (OCP), this sporting event which continues until November 2, aims to strengthen cultural and sporting attractiveness of the southern provinces of the Kingdom and to highlight the exceptional potential of the Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region.

This competition aims to be a unique experience for sport fishing enthusiasts from Morocco and abroad, combining both sporting excellence and respect for the environment, by adopting the rule of “No kill” meaning “No bet to death”, a practice consisting of releasing captured fish back into the water alive, able to contribute to the preservation of the region’s marine ecosystem.

In a statement to MAP, the president of the Oued Eddahab Provincial Tourism Council, Othmane Aâmar, indicated that the organization of this competition aims to highlight the natural assets of the pearl of the South, which has become a destination of choice for the different water sports disciplines.

Mr. Aâmar also expressed the hope that this competition would become an unmissable annual event to further contribute to the city’s tourist influence.

For his part, the regional director of the Youth Department, Mohamed Kabach, noted that this sporting event is marked by the participation of more than 23 competitors, mainly young people representing different Moroccan cities.

He also noted that this competition will contribute to tourist influence, indicating that this event will see the participation of qualified Moroccan fishermen and those from several countries.

This competition, which will take place in two national rounds, from October 19 to 21, will allow the best Moroccan sport fishermen to compete in optimal fishing conditions.

This crucial stage will serve as a selection for the competitors who will have the opportunity to represent Morocco during the international phase.

In addition to the sporting and environmental aspect, this competition will also focus on the social dimension, through the organization of a medical caravan on October 25 and 26, focusing on free medical consultations and specialized care.

This sporting event benefits from the support of local authorities, the Regional Council, the Moroccan Society of Tourist Engineering (SMIT) and the Wilaya of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, as well as the Barid Al-Maghrib Group.

This event aims to create a new dynamic in the pearl of the South, known for its tourist assets and potential allowing it to establish itself as a privileged sporting destination.
