600 earthen pots stacked in the kiln were damaged due to the heavy rain in Sayalkudi yesterday afternoon. Rama 55, a resident of Anna Nagar, Sayalkudi. He had prepared and stacked 600 earthen pots including Pongal pot, padanir collection pot and Kalayam made in the last three months near his house. When it was time to light the fire, yesterday’s unexpected rain caused all the pots in the kiln to break and get damaged. Ram, a pottery worker, said that since the pots worth Rs.45,000 were damaged by the rain, the Coastal Revenue Department should investigate and take steps to get relief.
