Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen, world No.1, won his second badminton world championship title in Tokyo on Sunday after beating Thailand’s Kunlavut Vitidsarn 21-5, 21-16 in the final.
Imperial, the 28-year-old Dane has lost just one singles match this season and left 21-year-old Vitidsarn no chance on Sunday. Olympic champion – already in Tokyo – in 2021, he won the world title in 2017 in Glasgow.
His victory this weekend allows him to glean a sixth title this season. Kunlavut Vitidsarn, rising star in the discipline and three-time junior world champion, took part in his first world championship final.
