The National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE) began the second phase of the 2024 National Urban Economic Census (CENU), technically known as the Count.

This technical operation will have the participation of 388 Accountants and 99 Supervisors of Counting, who will travel the urban streets of Colombia equipped with Mobile Capture Devices (DMC) to verify the information of each economic unit.

The census, which will take place between July and August, aims to ensure an accurate and comprehensive record.from small street vendors to large companies, which is crucial for the accuracy and success of the census. This stage will allow the updating of the country’s economic maps, revealing the true diversity and dynamism of the Colombian economy.

The counting phase began in Bogotá and in 10 municipalities of Cundinamarca, and will progressively extend to 133 Operational Centers throughout the country.ensuring national coverage.

At the same time, DANE began registering information to CENU 2024 from companies in the Public Administration and Defense sector, Mandatory Social Security Plans, Financial Services and Insurance, and Public Home Services (SAFP). These entities will receive an email from DANE with a link to a web questionnaire for self-completion.

The SAFP sector is the second to participate in the CENU, as the Transport sector began registering its information on June 4. Companies have until September 30 to register their information.

Three SAFP Sector Groups

DANE has divided the questionnaire for companies in these sectors into three groups, according to their activity:

Public Administration and Defense and Mandatory Membership Social Security Plans: This includes public entities at the national level, such as universities, the Congress of the Republic, the Sena, the Police and the Army, as well as entities at the departmental and municipal level, such as mayors and governors. It also includes pension administrators and social security services, such as Colpensiones, Cremil and Casur, and development banks, such as Findeter.

Financial Services and Insurance: Includes mutual associations, commercial banks, cooperatives, employee funds, stockbrokers, financing companies, insurance companies, trusts, investment funds and public and private EPS, among others.

Public Services at Home: Includes economic units that provide electricity, natural gas, waste collection, drinking water supply and wastewater treatment services, such as Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM) and the Empresa de Acueducto y Alcantarillado de Bogotá.
