Did you listen to the speech of Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai?
If you listened, or read what he said, you should look inside, between the lines.
The commissioner clarified in a way that is not ambiguous, that he is going with the instruction he received from the ombudsman and not with the instructions of the minister in charge – that is, against an instruction of the government.
Saying it is dangerous and against the law. The commissioner actually stated that the instructions he receives from the judicial level are the ones that bind him, while the government’s instructions are negligible.
The Israeli government is about to pass a reform. If judges do not accept and clarify that it is illegal, or if the prosecutor does it first, then the commissioner chose who runs the police – the legal system.
If tomorrow Miara decides that Netanyahu must go to the fortresses, the commissioner actually made it clear that he will use the power of the police against the government and its leader.
This, friends, is a real coup.
