After spending 14 months and 5 days in prison in total, the Brazilian soccer player Dani Alvessentenced to 4 and a half years for raping a woman in the bathrooms of the Sutton reservation in December 2022, has already crossed the door of the Penitentiary Center of Brians 2 after the court granted him the provisional release on bail.
The footballer’s defense made the payment of one million euros that the Provincial Court of Barcelona required to grant provisional freedom to Alves until the sentence is final. Three days of trial and a sentence that did not satisfy any of the parties

The sentence imposed by the court did not satisfy either party. The footballer’s lawyer, Inés Guardiola, already publicly announced that they would file an appeal to request provisional release. Taking into account the sentence imposed, and alleging that Alves had no intention of escaping and had shown a willingness to collaborate with justice, the defense’s hope was to cling to this concession from the judges.
Last Wednesday, the court made public an order by which the footballer was granted provisional release on bail. Two of the three judges voted in favor of this measure considering that, although the risk of flight had not disappearedit had been reduced enough to provisionally let Alves out until the sentence is final.
