FC Barcelona wins again in the 3rd round of the Spanish Championship thanks to returning player Dani Olmo and leads the table after their 2:1 victory at Rayo Vallecano.
Hansi Flick, the new coach of Barcelona, witnessed an improvement in his team’s performance after the break, which was rewarded with two goals. Pedri (60th minute) and Olmo (82nd minute) turned around the halftime deficit.
Olmo, who was signed for 55 million euros, made his first appearance for Barça after the break. Although the Spanish international progressed through the club’s youth ranks, he made his breakthrough through Dinamo Zagreb and Leipzig. His first appearance after returning was delayed in recent days because he was initially unable to be registered due to FC Barcelona’s financial issues.
The only team in the league still unbeaten, Barcelona had not only the two goals at Vallecano in Madrid but also a shot that hit the post from Olmo (58th minute) and a disallowed goal from Robert Lewandowski (71st minute). On Saturday, the Catalans will play their next match at home against Eray Cömert’s Valladolid.
