The General Director of Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines, Daniel Álvarez, reported in Energy, Hydrocarbons and Mines, that in Salvadoran territory there are indications that they may have oil.
“We have indications that we could have oil in our territory, which is why we urgently need to update the Law to have access to the companies that are responsible for carrying out this type of studies,” said the head of DGEHM.
The official reported that one of the objectives of modifying the Law is to be certain of what types of resources exist in El Salvador, whether there is oil or natural gas. With the reforms in place, they will be able to hire international experts to carry out the studies.
“The reforms will modernize the legal framework, innovate investments through attractive contracts for the global oil industry and will grant more powers to the CEL to direct and supervise the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbon deposits,” said Daniel Álvarez.
