The jungle camp has been taking place for a week now. Many candidates miss their children – Danni Büchner in particular gets emotional in the latest episode.

Editor’s note: The content of this article refers to the jungle camp episode, which will not be shown on linear TV until August 23rd, but is already available on RTL+.

The joy is all the greater on the eighth day when the campers get their luxury items back. Danni Büchner immediately hugs her pillow, which is printed with photos of her offspring. When she sees the pictures, the 46-year-old is overwhelmed by her emotions.

“I’ve given birth to five children. What’s wrong with me? I’m a birthing machine,” Danni Büchner says in conversation with Eric Stehfest and Mola Adebisi. She explains that her family is also a reason for her to take part in the jungle camp again. Despite this, she finds the separation increasingly difficult. “It’s crazy. We’re doing it for the family and we’re full of energy and want to see it through. But every now and then you get to a point where you think – well, that’s how it is for me as a single mother – shit, is that right? They’re alone for so long,” she describes her thoughts.

Her words touch her fellow campers: both Mola Adebisi and Eric Stehfest fight back tears. A little later, Danni Büchner is also crying, because she is plagued by doubts on the jungle phone: “I have been a mother for 24 years. I think there have often been moments when I was not a good mother or a good role model,” she admits. But she assures them that she has always tried her best. For her, the top priority is to be able to give something back to her family. “Because in the hardest time of my life, my children built me up. I was the child, so to speak, and my children were the parents,” she remembers.

In 2018, Danni Büchner lost her second husband. Jens Büchner, who had become a TV star through the Vox docusoap “Goodbye Germany”, died of lung cancer. The Düsseldorf native has twins Jenna Soraya and Diego Armani with him. Her two daughters Joelina and Jada and son Volkan come from her previous marriage to her childhood sweetheart Yilmaz Karabas.

On August 15, “I’m a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” started on RTL+. On linear television, the special broadcast to mark the show’s 20th anniversary only started one day later.

As usual, the jungle camp will be hosted by Sonja Zietlow and Jan Köppen. However, this year “I’m a Celebrity – The Showdown of the Jungle Legends” will not take place in Australia, but in South Africa. The show was also recorded. Filming took place several weeks ago.
