It is with this in mind that the Provincial Committee for Human Development of Marrakech has made this issue one of its priorities during the different phases of this large-scale social project.

Thus, Dar Taliba (student house) in Tasaltant, in the prefecture of Marrakech, is one of these social structures created within the framework of the INDH and which constitute an eloquent illustration of the efforts deployed in this part of the national territory in favor of the fight against school dropout, in particular among the ranks of rural girls.

Created in 2008 during the first phase of this reign project, this establishment reflects the commitment and immeasurable contribution of the INDH to improving schooling conditions for girls in rural areas and, therefore, to strengthen the efforts made by the various stakeholders to combat the scourge of school dropout.

In addition to accommodation, this structure provides beneficiary girls with a range of services, namely reception, catering, educational support, sports activities, medical services and socio-educational support.

With a capacity of 104 beds, the two-storey establishment includes three dormitories, a refectory, a training and socio-educational support room, administrative offices, a space dedicated to welcoming parents of beneficiary girls, a multimedia room, a library, a space reserved for reading and entertainment, a kitchen equipped with all the necessary facilities, a playground and a multidisciplinary room.

The result of a partnership between the INDH and the Tasaltant Municipal Council, this structure was strengthened during the third phase of this social project with the construction and equipment of a multidisciplinary room, a kitchen and dormitories, noted Ms. Raja Gouglou, head of the program for the generalization of preschool in rural areas and academic support at the Social Action division of the wilaya of the Marrakech-Safi region.

In a statement to MAP, she also highlighted the role of the INDH’s intervention in this type of establishment as part of its fourth program, by working to upgrade these structures in order to allow beneficiaries from low-income backgrounds to continue their studies in a healthy environment, as well as to improve the schooling conditions of rural girls in order to reduce school dropout.

The INDH ensures that these objectives are translated on the ground by working towards the expansion and upgrading of Dour Talib and Taliba, through the construction of multidisciplinary rooms dedicated to training, animation and educational support, as well as the equipment of these social establishments, while ensuring annual financial support for their management, explained the manager.

For his part, Youssef Zaria, president of the Tasaltant Association for Development, Sports and Culture, responsible for managing this structure, highlighted the notable contribution of this establishment to the fight against school dropout among girls from remote douars lacking means of transport, by allowing them to continue their studies in better conditions.

And to continue in a similar statement that this effort has contributed to the significant reduction of the school dropout rate of rural girls, reviewing the main criteria adopted for the selection of beneficiary girls (family situation, distance from the establishment, academic performance, etc.).

In addition to the various cultural and sports activities, the establishment also guarantees boarders academic support in several subjects (Arabic, English and French languages, mathematics, physical sciences), within the framework of collaboration with academic support centers.
