January 15th saw a seismic shift in the professional wrestling world as Daria Rae made a surprise debut with TNA Wrestling, and the reverberations were felt strongly within the WWE locker room. The unexpected move sparked immediate reactions from fans and colleagues alike, with former WWE stars expressing a mix of support and astonishment.
WWE Stars React to Rae’s TNA Appearance
Daria Rae’s move to TNA Wrestling caught many off guard, prompting a flurry of messages from her former colleagues.
“Nattie, Liv, Lana, Bianca-so many of the girls reached out and were incredibly supportive,” Rae shared.“They were like, ‘what the hell? How did you not tell me this?’ They were kind of freaked out that I kept it from them.”
Rae explained that this deliberate secrecy wasn’t about withholding information, but about crafting a specific experience. She wanted the debut to feel authentic and impactful, maximizing the genuine reactions from those closest to her. She admitted to becoming more private over time, believing that sharing plans prematurely can diminish their impact.
“I was trying to make it a moment. I wanted to get a real pop out of the girls, so I kept it low-key and just wanted to see their initial, organic reactions,” Rae said.”I don’t know if it’s superstition exactly, but I feel like when you share everything before it happens,it kind of taints the process. So it was just something I wanted to keep to myself for a bit.”
Focus Shifts to Non-Wrestling Role
Despite her imposing presence as “The Suit,” a return to in-ring competition doesn’t appear to be on the horizon for Rae. Sean Ross Sapp, during a Fightful Select Q&A podcast, indicated that she is expected to assume a non-wrestling position within TNA.
“From what I heard, she’s supposed to be a non-wrestling authority figure. she said recently that she’s pretty well retired from in-ring competition,” Sapp stated.
Sapp also highlighted Rae’s existing relationship with Anthem Sports, TNA’s parent company, which also owns Invicta FC, where Rae previously worked. This connection facilitated her return to the wrestling world, though her current focus remains on character work and leadership roles.
“She has a good relationship with TNA’s parent company, Anthem, and got brought in to do some stuff with their Invicta FC MMA promotion. She’s going to be a good on-screen character that eventually, if she decides to, she coudl work as well. But I have not heard anything indicating that she would,” Sapp added.
