“Darius Steponkus has proven during his first term as a manager that he is able to turn the Klaipėda Republican Hospital into such a reliable partner. The goals are set for the manager to continue the work started, demonstrating leadership not only in the port city, but also in the region, by providing secondary level treatment services to residents,” says Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkys.
The Ministry notes that 8 applicants submitted documents in the RKL manager competition, 7 candidates met the general qualification requirements of the first stage of the competition. 5 applicants came to the commission, from which the two applicants who performed best and scored the most points were selected and invited to an interview with the minister.
The minister assessed the applicants’ competences and subject qualities, necessary for the position of RKL director, and chose the candidate who best matched these qualities.
D. Steponkus has completed medical and public health studies at the Kaunas Medical Academy. He has worked in Klaipėda Red Cross and Šilute hospitals.
The winner of the competition is also the chairman of the Council of the Lithuanian Doctors’ Union, a member of the Council of the Klaipėda State College, he is engaged in scientific and educational activities – he teaches at the Faculty of Public Health of Klaipėda University.
