Darjal intervenes to get some clubs to release their players to join the Olympic Club in the Asian Championship

/ The President of the Iraqi Football Federation, Adnan Darjal, said on Wednesday that he personally intervened in order to convince some Iraqi clubs that refuse to release their players for the Olympic team that is preparing for the Asian Championship qualifiers for Paris 2024 in Qatar in mid-April.

Darjal told Agency, that he met with “Iraqi club administrations that include a number of Olympic players who were invited by coach Radhi Shanishil, to represent Iraq in the upcoming Asian Championship, to resolve the problems occurring with the aim of officially releasing their players to the national team during the tournament, especially since the tournament is located outside In the days of (FIFA), clubs have the right not to release their players to any team during this period except after their approval as a matter of cooperation.”

He explained, “The most important meeting was with the Student Club, which includes the largest number of Olympic players among the Iraqi clubs,” explaining that he reached “a solution with the President of the Student Club, Salah Al-Fatlawi, to release the team’s players to join the ranks of the Olympic team.”

Darjal pointed out that “Al-Fatlawi was understanding and cooperating with the federation in order to find a way that would not affect the progress of the national team and the club team in order to approve the discharge of the national team players, and the club management is scheduled to come out with the official discharge decision in a very soon meeting.”

The management of the Student Club had agreed to release six of its players to the Olympic Club on the condition that the Iraqi Football Association agreed to postpone a number of Iraq Stars Football League matches in order to join the national team participating in the Asian Championship.
