On BFMTV, the Minister of the Interior called on the French footballer to “also mourn” the assassination of Professor Dominique Bernard.
Gérald Darmanin said Thursday evening on BFMTV that he would withdraw his comments accusing Karim Benzema of being “in notorious links with the Muslim Brotherhood” if the French Ballon d’Or «tweetait» pour “also cry” the assassination of the French teacher from Arras by a radicalized young person.
The Minister of the Interior did not give specific information to support his accusations concerning the French football international. But he insisted on the danger represented in his eyes «l’islam radical» and the “Muslim Brotherhood”.
“Not seeing this is showing the French that you are naive. Let’s stop being naive! »he told BFMTV journalists.
“If Mr. Benzema wants to show his good faith, which he is capable of showing in a few minutes in front of 20 million people who follow him (on X, formerly Twitter), that he also mourns the death of this professor, I will withdraw my comments”declared the minister, for whom the international “tweets selectively.”
Monday evening on Cnews, Gérald Darmanin accused the athlete of links with the Muslim Brotherhood, a radical Islamist organization born in Egypt, after he had posted a message on “all (his) prayers for the inhabitants of Gaza who are once again victims of these unjust bombings which spare neither women nor children.”
Since then, the footballer’s lawyer has announced his intention to file a complaint against the minister and other personalities.
