The Lilien-PK after the game against Freiburg

Tobias Kempe: If you look at how the game went, the defeat today hurts. We were also good with the ball, but unfortunately only up to the penalty area. As was the case throughout the season, we lacked a bit of penetration. We have tried everything. We were the better team, but lost again. Our fans are outstanding. There have been a few debates in the meantime, that’s completely fine. Today we showed again what sets Darmstadt apart. We will continue to give everything, for the club, for the region.
Klaus Gjasula: It hurts. We tried everything, they come in front of the goal twice and the bell rings straight away. We don’t reward ourselves, that’s sad and a reflection of this season. Many games went like today. Mathematically it is still possible, we will continue to fight until the end and want to give something back to our fans. Our fans are incredible. We want to get another win so that our supporters have a reason to celebrate.
Darmstadt 98 loses to Freiburg Committed Lilies start their farewell tour with defeat

Christoph Klarer: I don’t know why we’re leaving this game with zero points again. The way we played was fine. But that doesn’t help. Sometimes there is a lack of conviction, sometimes a lack of quality. We had some high-profile ones that we didn’t use. The game sums up the season well. We put in a good performance and left the field as losers – and no one knows why.
Torsten Lieberknecht: It was important for us to play for the disappointed fans. We were very stable and fell behind thanks to a clean move from Freiburg. We had our chances. I don’t like clichés, but it’s one: If you’re last and haven’t won in 22 games, you’re screwed. This is our fate, but we are responsible for it.
Michael Gregoritsch: We played football at the right moments. We knew we had to work 100 percent, so we did that. The dream of Europe is alive, we were always within striking distance. We now have five games left, three of which are home games. When, if not now? We know what we have to do. It’s about us being able to travel again. That’s incentive enough.
