Ryan Meikle prevailed in an exciting draw against Fallon Sherrock at the World Cup of Darts 2025. With a 3-1 win over Queen’s Palace, Meikle will be Luke Littler’s opponent in the second round.
The first set was under siege from both players. Meikle averaged 70 after the first set, and Sherrock averaged 79. In contrast to Meikle, Sherrock managed to hit the doubles. In the first leg, Meikle missed five darts at a double, then Sherrock took the leg with a 21-darter. With another 21 darters and 15 darters the team went 3-0 against the man from Milton Keynes.
Sherrock lost in the second set, especially in scoring. Meikle averaged another 30 points per shot and took the second set 3-0 to tie the score.
The third set started with a 19-darter from Meikle after Sherrock missed a break opportunity. Queen’s Palace also missed an opportunity in the second leg, which was punished by a 119 finish from Meikle. Barber then put another 3-0 series win on the scoreboard with a 16-darter.
But the tension returned to the game after Sherrock won the fourth set. After four legs it was 2-2, then Sherrock was able to start the deciding leg. With 180 she put Meikle behind and a 14-darter gave her the set win.
Meikle was allowed to start the final set and missed two shots at doubles, but Sherrock was unable to check the remaining 100 points. Meikle then took the lead in the final set by hitting 10 doubles. In the second game, Sherrock hit a double 20 and the score was 1-1. Meikle then regained the lead before Sherrock missed the bullseye for 170 for a sudden death leg. That allowed Meikle to take home the win with a 96 finish.
