Dating apps “threat Western civilization”, researcher claims – Document

Without many births, society steers towards self-destruction, says researcher Mads Larsen. He blames women’s inability to choose partners, and claims this is reinforced by modern dating culture. He reports this the VG newspaper.

Today, many women give up the search for a long-term relationship. They want children and a partner, but they remain involuntarily single, or “innings”.

Larsen claims to VG that there are actually two dating markets:

The short-term market, where people are looking for sex or a short-term affair.
The long-term deal, where you search for a partner to create a family and have children.

In the short-term market, men and women behave completely differently. Men often have a lower threshold for sexual interest. Women are more discerning, and often choose to have sex with men they can imagine starting a relationship with. Women tend towards hypergamy, where they prefer men of high social or economic status.

The problem, which not all women seem to understand, is that men who are always sexually attracted to them have no interest in marrying them.

According to Larsen, today’s market means that most people of both sexes will become losers: Men with low partner value never get sex or relationships, and more and more women give up the search for long term partner.

The winners in the sex market are the few men with high partner value who have sex with many women, perhaps without any desire to create a long-term relationship with any of them.

Dating applications such as Tinder reinforce this tendency. “Tinder gives women practically unlimited access to serial dating and short-term sex with very attractive men,” says Mads Larsen to VG.

He doesn’t put his finger on how serious this is:

“Dating apps threaten Western civilization. We pressed the red self-destruct button, but we chose to do it so slowly that it doesn’t feel so serious. And we will do it with a method that we have no cultural means to stop”.
