His daughter Tazreen Farhana Aindrila is going to make a movie about ‘Mahanayak’ Bulbul Ahmed. In the meantime, he also studied cinema in a private university as a preliminary preparation for film production.
Earlier he made a documentary on Bulbul Ahmed. ‘Bulbul’ also received an award as a researcher from Dhaka University.
Aindrila said, this time he wants to make a film on a large scale. The actress said, ‘I studied film from Stamford University in Dhaka. Good results have also come. Basically my studies were in Marketing. I took admission in film because I wanted to make a film about my father. Now I feel myself fit, so I have announced the film.’
Aindrila has already started working on the screenplay. For this, Bulbul Ahmed said that he will also meet those who are alive related to the film of the time.
First the screenplay will be submitted for government grants. If not, Aindrila will look for a producer. He said, ‘I will do the film on a big scale whether I get the grant or not. Hopefully, the funds will be collected.’
The movie will start shooting in the middle of 2025. Aindrila also said that the bride and groom will be selected before this.
Actor, director and producer Bulbul Ahmed was born on 4 September 1940. He died on July 15, 2010. His acting career started in 1968 with the drama ‘Poorbhaas’. He made his big screen debut in 1973 with the film Ye Kare Biye. He won the National Film Award four times.
In the seventies and eighties, Alamgir Kabir’s ‘Dheere Bahe Meghna’ (1973), ‘Surya Kanya’ (1975), ‘Seemana Periye’ (1977), ‘Rupali Saiket’ (1979), ‘Mohana’ (1982) and ‘Mahanayak’ ( 1984) grabbed everyone’s attention by acting as the hero in the movie. However, he gained popularity through the film ‘Devdas’ directed by farmer Nazrul Islam.
Apart from acting, Bubul Ahmed also directed some movies. Notable movies he has directed are- ‘Wada’, ‘Mahanayak’, ‘Balo Manoo’, ‘Rajalakshmi-Sreekant’, ‘Akarshan’, ‘Garam Hawa’, ‘Kat Je Apan’ etc. He also produced the last four movies.
In his 44-year media life, Bulbul Ahmed acted in about 300 dramas and more than two hundred movies. Bulbul Ahmed’s last movie ‘Dui Nayner Alo’, last TV drama ‘Babar Bari’ shot in 2009. Apart from acting, he also directed it.
Daisy Ahmed is the wife of Bulbul Ahmed. The couple has three children. They are — daughter Tahsin Farzana Tilottama, Aindrila Ahmed and son Shubo. Among them, wife Daisy and daughter Aindrila are associated with acting.
