David Bowie is coming to Tel Aviv for a week. he is dead? You yourselves are dead

by time news

Almost seven years have passed since the unimaginable death of David Bowie, the heart has not yet reunited, the sorrow and grief have not dissipated, and this week we will have a particularly wonderful opportunity to reunite with his worker and poke a little at this wound that refuses to heal: the wonderful documentary “Moonage Daydream” is released for one week only of Screenings throughout the country – and here in our city at Lev Cinema and Rav Chen Dizengoff Cinema – and it is expected to be screened at IMAX in Cinema City as well.

“Moonage Daydream” by acclaimed American docu director Brett Morgan (who also created the excellent Kurt Cobain documentary “Montage of Heck” and the Emmy-winning docu “Jane” about Jane Goodall), is a project launched after the death of Bowie and held for six years in official collaboration with Bowie’s family. It is named after a forgotten song by Bowie from his second album and is a 140-minute spectacle containing never-before-seen footage from Bowie’s private archive, as well as rare clips from live performances, video art created by Bowie and a 45-piece soundtrack that is expected to be released this week as a triple album.

The film was screened at a festive premiere at the last Cannes Film Festival, received rave reviews and comes to us with the promise of a sparkling, trippy and psychedelic journey into the mind of David Bowie that does not pretend to chronologically summarize all his work, but brings its viewers “closer than ever to the solution of the cool sexy enigma that was Bowie” (it Quote from the review in “Variety”, don’t look at us). It is interesting to note that the narration for the film is provided by Boi himself, from clips he recorded at various times before his death. Those who have already watched the film as part of the Jerusalem Film Festival about two months ago are talking about an unforgettable musical cinematic experience. Do not miss.
