David Garnot, Akirov’s man at General Insurance, withdrew his candidacy from the board of directors

by time news

Just before the start of the shareholders’ meeting of Clal Insurance, in which it was decided to appoint directors in the company, David Garnot announced that he was withdrawing his candidacy and therefore was not appointed as a director in Clal Insurance.

Garnot, former CEO of Discount Bank and the International Bank, is considered Akirov’s man in the company, who owns 15% of Clal Insurance’s share capital through the Alrov Real Estate company he controls.

Haim Samet is expected to continue serving as chairman, much to Akirov’s dismay, along with directors Eli Shami, Varda Alsheich and Yair Bar Tov. Akirov recently tried to remove Samet from the company in the background of the backlash Samet received for the purchase of the MAX credit card company.
