Director David Lynch (78) shared that he was recently diagnosed with emphysema and mentioned that this affects his way of working. The filmmaker shared that it is unlikely that he will direct again.
Lynch shared that one of his fears is contracting COVID, remembering that this summer there has been a spike in cases reported around the world. The American mentions that his condition is caused by smoking for much of his life.
“I’ve had emphysema from smoking for so long and so I’m housebound, whether I like it or not… And now, because of COVID, it would be very bad for me to get sick, even with a cold,” the director revealed to Sight and Sound of The Independent.
And the impact is significant because Lynch He mentions that he runs out of oxygen even when walking short distances.
Lynch said it is unlikely she will direct again and that if she does return to the ring, she will do so remotely. “I wouldn’t like that so much,” she told the publication.
Throughout his career David Lynch has directed the Twin Peaks series and the films Dune (1984), Blue Velvet (1986), The Elephant Man (1980) and Mulholland Drive (2001).
