The David Slingshot system successfully intercepted one of two rockets fired towards the Jerusalem mountains for the second time. The system is designed to intercept medium-range missiles and has recorded two successful interceptions since its launch. The news of the successful interception was allowed to be published on Friday. The first successful interception was recorded last Wednesday during a barrage towards Gush Dan. The David Slingshot system is one of three interception systems used in Israel, the others being the Iron Dome for short-range rockets and the ‘Hat’ system for long-range ballistic missiles. The system was first launched in July 2018 when two interceptors were mistakenly launched towards Syrian missiles that were estimated to land in Israeli territory.

It was allowed to be published that one of the two rockets fired today (Friday) towards the Jerusalem mountains was successfully intercepted by the “Slingshot of David” system. This is the second time that a successful interception of the new system has been recorded, after YSuccessful interception of one of the rockets that were fired in a barrage towards Gush Dan last Wednesday.
As you remember, the “David Slingshot” system is supposed to deal with medium-range missiles. In July 2018, the first operational launch of the system was carried out, when two interceptors were launched towards Syrian missiles that the system mistakenly estimated would land in Israeli territory.
Israel has three interception systems – the best known being the Iron Dome for short-range rockets. The David slingshot system is used for medium-range missiles and rockets, and the ‘Hat’ system is designed to intercept long-range ballistic missiles.
