Frankfurt/Main.

On Wednesday, the Dax temporarily fell below the 15,000 point mark for the first time since March. In the opening minutes, the Dax fell to 14,969 points. But over time the pressure eased a little. Most recently, the leading index lost 0.46 percent to 15,016.40 points. While the Dax is still up by almost eight percent this year, the MDax has slipped into the red for the year. The index of medium-sized stocks lost 1.06 percent to 25,028.72 points on Wednesday. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 fell by 0.4 percent.

Since the DAX record high of 16,528 points at the end of July, the leading index has lost more than nine percent of its value within two months. “Interest rates remain the big spoilsport for the stock markets,” explained portfolio manager Thomas Altmann from QC Partners. In addition, with the US budget dispute only temporarily resolved, there is “uncertainty at an inopportune time”. (dpa)
