ABU DHABI: The private sector in the UAE will have a paid holiday on October 8 to mark Prophet’s Day. The holiday was announced by the country’s Ministry of Human Resource Development and Indigenization. Only private sector workers who currently work on Sundays will benefit from the 8th October holiday as many government sector and private sector organizations in the UAE have shifted their weekend holidays to Saturday and Sunday.

After the Prophet’s Day, the upcoming public holidays in the country this year are Remembrance Day and UAE National Day in December. These holidays will be available on December 1st, 2nd and 3rd. As the 4th of December falls on a Sunday, inclusive, four consecutive days will be taken off at that time.
