The late Rabbi Menachem Mendel Gerlitz, one of the most important followers of Strykov, and one of the greatest writers and historians, passed away last night (Sunday) at the age of 80.

The deceased, who is well known by the pen name ‘Menachem Getz’, was born to his father, the late Rabbi David Zvi Gerlitz, and when he came to his senses, he married the daughter of the late Rabbi Yosef Sheinberger, the mythological secretary of the Jerusalem Haredi community.

During his lifetime, the deceased authored the series of books “In the Ways of Our Fathers” – books that told the stories of the great men of Israel, the Tannaim and the Amoraim, who were also the first books to receive an official recommendation from the Haredi community.

In addition, the deceased authored “Following our Lords” on the ways of the Baal Shem Tov, the “Signer Sofer” and the “Son of a Living Man”, and “Jerusalem of Ma’aleh” – a series of books that includes five parts of stories about the people of Jerusalem through the ages.

In 1957, the deceased was one of the organizers of the Birkat Hachama class at the Western Wall plaza, along with the publication of a book on the subject, and the publication of the Passover Haggadah in the style of the Beit Brisk dynasty.

During his life, he lived with his wife on Ovadia Street in Jerusalem, where they established their home and family to the glory of the Strykov Hasidism.

His funeral will depart from his home at 11:30 a.m., to Mount of Beatitudes where he will be Whitman.

May his soul be bundled in the bundle of life.
