Singer Dayane Damasceno recorded a video to comment on the rumors about the news that former gospel singer Jessé Aguiar came out as gay, as recently reported by GospelMais.
Dayane Damasceno stressed that the responsibility for Jessé’s choices lies with the singer himself, and that he will be accountable to God in the same way as all Christians. She pointed out, however, that homosexual behavior cannot be “romanticized”.
That’s because Dayane criticized what seems to be a spectacularization of the gay lifestyle, as if the fact that someone admits to being homosexual was a cause for celebration on the part of Christians, which is unfeasible in light of the Bible.
The singer recalled that homosexual practice is a sin, as well as adultery, but that no adulterer claims “privileges” for being an adulterer, or makes demands to be treated in a special way.
The revelation
Upon coming out as gay, Jessé Aguiar said he had been dealing with attraction to people of the same sex since he was 12, and that he revealed this to his mother at 14. At the time, according to the former gospel singer, he would have faced depression because of not knowing how to deal with their sexuality in the context of the church.
“It’s part of me [ser homossexual] and I won’t be able to change. There is no cure for it and I don’t think it needs a cure for it. People are and they should be who they really are,” he said.
“The context I lived in repressed this question a lot. I kept it to myself, but at the age of 14 I was no longer able to keep it and suffocate it inside of me”, highlighted Jessé.
Followers of Dayane Damasceno, on the other hand, supported the singer’s speech. “I totally agree with her position,” said a profile on Instagram. watch the full comment in the video below:
