New Delhi: Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant has joined the list of Indian players who have expressed concern over the ‘impact player’ rule. After scoring big scores in two consecutive matches, the Delhi team could register a win by a very narrow margin. After defeating Gujarat Titans by four runs in their previous match, the team defeated Mumbai Indians by 10 runs on Saturday.
Delhi made its highest score of 257 runs for four wickets but while chasing the target, Mumbai Indians came close to victory. Mumbai scored 247 runs for nine wickets with Tilak Verma’s inning of 63 runs in 32 balls. Pant said at the awards ceremony after the match, ‘We were very happy to score more than 250 runs, but due to the impact player rule, it is becoming difficult to defend even this kind of score.’
McGurk is an amazing player
The captain praised Jack Fraser McGurk who laid the foundation of the big score by scoring 84 runs in 27 balls. Pant said, ‘He has been amazing from day one and that’s what you want from a young player. He is getting better with every match.
Hardik Pandya is disappointed with the defeat
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya, who was on the verge of being out of the playoff race after this defeat, talked about understanding the match situations in the team. Taking aim at the left-handed batsmen of the team, he said that these batsmen should have scored more runs against a bowler like Akshar Patel.
Jonny Bairstow: Century and 17 boundaries in 45 balls, Jonny Bairstow created havoc
He said, ‘We had adopted a positive attitude towards chasing the target. We could have taken some more chances in the middle overs. The left-handed batsman could probably have played some more big shots against Axar. We missed the mark in terms of game awareness.
