by time news

The AADE is sending informational messages to those obligated who have not yet completed the process.

Strict fines of €1,500 await professionals and self-employed individuals who do not comply with the obligation to register in the IRIS direct payment system. The deadline for registration ends today, Monday, September 2, while the AADE has already begun sending informational messages to those obligated who have not yet completed the process.

The IRIS system requires the connection of the professional account, also known as a “current account“, with the professional’s mobile phone. Registration is mandatory for all freelancers and self-employed individuals, as it allows them to receive direct payments from their clients, while also offering significant advantages such as reduced or even zero transaction fees and speed in executing transactions.

According to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, approximately 400,000 professionals have registered in the system to date, of which 240,000 have activated the service within 2024. The registration rate in recent weeks has quintupled, indicating increasing compliance among those obligated with the deadline.

The IRIS system is supported by 12 banks, including Alpha Bank, National Bank, Eurobank, Piräus Bank, as well as Cooperative Banks such as those in Epirus, Thessaly, Karditsa, and Chania. Timely registration in the system is critical to avoid penalties and to improve speed and efficiency in professional transactions.
