Registration is mandatory for all freelancers and self-employed individuals, as it allows them to receive direct payments from their clients, while also offering significant advantages such as reduced or even zero transaction fees and speed in executing transactions.

According to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, approximately 400,000 professionals have registered in the system to date, of which 240,000 have activated the service within 2024. The registration rate in recent weeks has quintupled, indicating increasing compliance among those obligated with the deadline.
The IRIS system is supported by 12 banks, including Alpha Bank, National Bank, Eurobank, Piräus Bank, as well as Cooperative Banks such as those in Epirus, Thessaly, Karditsa, and Chania. Timely registration in the system is critical to avoid penalties and to improve speed and efficiency in professional transactions.
