The AADE is sending informative messages to those obligated who have not yet completed the process.

Strict fines of 1,500 euros await professionals and self-employed individuals who do not comply with the obligation to register in the IRIS immediate payment system. The deadline for registration ends today, Monday, September 2, while the AADE has already started sending informative messages to those obligated who have not yet completed the process.

The IRIS system requires the connection of the professional account, also known as the “checking account“, with the professional’s mobile phone. Registration is mandatory for all freelancers and self-employed individuals, as it allows them to receive immediate payments from their clients, while also offering significant benefits such as reduced or even zero commission costs and speed in executing transactions.

According to the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, approximately 400,000 professionals have registered in the system to date, of which 240,000 have activated the service in 2024. The rate of registrations in recent weeks has quintupled, indicating the increasing compliance of those obligated with the deadline.

The IRIS system is supported by 12 banks, including Alpha Bank, National Bank, Eurobank, Piraeus Bank, as well as Cooperative Banks such as those in Epirus, Thessaly, Karditsa, and Chania. Timely registration in the system is crucial to avoid fines and to improve the speed and efficiency of business transactions.
