Deadline for private companies ends on December 31; inspection from January

The deadline for private companies in the UAE to fulfill the criteria for naturalization ends on December 31. The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Indigenization has announced that the inspection for indigenization criteria will begin from January 1. (Mandatory Emiratisation in UAE last date is December 31)

Private companies have to follow the standard of hiring not less than two percent of natives in skilled occupations. The defaulting companies will have to pay fines from January. The Ministry also informs that 4 percent indigenization should be ensured by 2024, including companies that violate the norms. By 2026, the indigenization rate has been increased to 10 percent.

Companies that violate the law will have to pay a fine of Dh72,000 a year. This amount is collected from the companies at the rate of 6,000 dirhams per native employee. This amount can be paid to the company in one installment, according to the UAE Ministry of Human Resource Indigenization.
