Deadly Train Accidents in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh Shake the Country, Resulting in Loss of Lives

2nd June, Odisha – In a tragic incident, the Coromandel Express train, which was heading towards Chennai, met with an accident in Odisha. The train mishap claimed the lives of 280 people, leaving the nation devastated. The Balasore train accident in Odisha stands as one of the worst train accidents in India. While the shockwaves caused by the Odisha train accident are still reverberating among the people, another train accident occurred today in Andhra Pradesh, claiming the lives of three individuals. Initial reports indicate that around 15 people have also been injured.

The train collision in Andhra Pradesh involved a passenger train traveling from Visakhapatnam to Rayagada, which was forced to halt due to a technical fault in Vijayanagaram district. Shockingly, the Palasa Express train collided abruptly with the stationary train, causing three coaches of the Palasa train to derail in a horrific accident. Inside the train, passengers were gripped with terror, screaming for help.

Initial reports indicate that three people have lost their lives, while many others have sustained injuries in the train collision. As soon as news about the accident reached the authorities, rescue teams rushed to the location and initiated rescue operations. The rescue teams are currently working tirelessly to rescue passengers trapped in the wreckage of the train coaches.

On being informed about the train accident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed his shock. The official social media page of the Andhra Chief Minister’s Office stated, “The Chief Minister has expressed shock over the train accident that took place at Kandaka Palli railway station in Vijayanagaram district. Jagan Mohan Reddy has ordered the authorities to expedite the rescue operations and ensure swift treatment for the injured.”

In response to the incident, the East Coast Railway shared helpline numbers for those affected by the train accident between Alamanda and Kantakapalle in the Vizianagaram-Kottavalasa Railway section of the Waltair Division, located on the Howrah-Chennai Main Line. As the nation mourns the loss of lives in these tragic accidents, authorities are urged to thoroughly investigate the causes of both incidents and take swift action to prevent such incidents in the future.
