Odessa, which has been part of the World Heritage Site since January, is regularly targeted by Russian strikes. The city notably experienced a “hellish night” on Thursday, Kiev accusing Moscow of specifically targeting port infrastructure to prevent any possible resumption of Ukrainian grain exports. Unesco for its part “strongly condemned” Russian strikes on Friday against “several museums” which “suffered damage”.
