Death of French MEP Véronique Trillet-Lenoir

Véronique Trillet-Lenoir, 66, who sat among the macronists in the European Parliament, is dead, announced Wednesday August 9, the president of the Renew group, Stéphane Séjourné, on social network X (formerly Twitter).

“I have just learned with infinite sadness of the death of Véronique Trillet-Lenoir (…). A model of integrity, Véronique had made the health of Europeans and our health security her fight, based on her university experience and her career as a hospital practitioner which were internationally recognized.greeted the president of Renew, a group which brings together pro-European centrist elected representatives and liberal deputies from northern Europe.

Ms. Trillet-Lenoir, oncologist by profession, had led a hospital and university career. She had notably been president of the management board of the Cancéropôle Lyon Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes between 2013 and 2020.

She entered politics in 2015 by being elected regional opposition councilor for Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on the socialist list led by Jean-Jack Queyranne. Support for Emmanuel Macron from 2017, she was elected on the Renaissance list in the European elections two years later. She sat in Brussels and Strasbourg on the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.

“His humanity, his benevolence and his generosity which were known to all were a real extra soul for our delegation”recalled Stéphane Séjourné, arguing that “His dignity and courage in the face of illness command our respect today”.
