This is, at least, good news to close this very dark edition of the Tour de Suisse. American rider Magnus Sheffield (Ineos Grenadiers) was released from hospital this Saturday, two days after his heavy fall during the 5th stage in the descent of the Albula Pass, where Gino Mäder lost his life the same day.

“Magnus Sheffield was released from Swiss hospital on Saturday after falling during the fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse,” his team announced in a press release. He will now return home for a period of rest and recovery under the supervision of our medical team. »

The Ineos group team also paid tribute to the Swiss rider. “The thoughts of our entire team are with the family, friends and loved ones of Gino Mäder, as well as our colleagues from the Bahrain Victorious team. »

The Tour de Suisse has its epilogue this Sunday with the 8th and final stage, a time trial between Saint-Gall and Abtwil, despite the abandonment of several teams including Bahrain-Victorious, the Mäder team. “Our priority is to respect the well-being of our runners”, also justified the management of the Belgian team Intermarché-Circus-Wanty.
